The idea

What does school feel like?

What should school feel like?

Start with the people who know school best.

Children and young people experience school every day. They know what helps them settle, focus and belong, and what gets in the way. That lived experience is expertise, and it should help shape education.

This event moves from the first question to the second. Young people set the agenda; adults bring their own experience and come ready to listen and act.

Young people will tell us

  1. What supports them
  2. What gets in the way
  3. What they would do differently

Adults will

  • Answer young people’s questions openly
  • Take part in workshops, side by side
  • Take practical ideas back to their schools and organisations

Our purpose

An event shaped and led by children and young people, exploring how school should feel and what adults can do to make it happen.

Three zones

What to expect

The day is split into three zones: Talk, Doing, and Chill & Play. Move between them at your own pace.

TalkAsk the questions

Conversations where young people’s questions lead and adults respond.

Adults come to answer, not to lecture.

Proposed experiences

  • Children interviewing a panel of adults
  • A panel of young people sharing their perspectives
  • Short talks and conversations
  • An opening introduction from the organisers

DoingTry something different

Hands-on sessions, from workshops to yoga and breathwork, for young people and adults together.

Everyone takes part, adults included.

Proposed experiences

  • Practical, participatory workshops
  • Yoga and breathwork
  • An Orli-led activity exploring feelings
  • Exploring flexible approaches to learning
  • A workshop led by young people

Chill & PlaySpace to pause

A calmer space for whenever you need a break.

Come back to the conversation when you’re ready.

Proposed experiences

  • Time and space for reflection
  • Sensory and playful activities
  • Room to step away from the busier programme

Programme in development Activities, sessions and timings are proposals and will be shaped with young people.

Hear from young people

In their words, soon.

Short films and anonymous voice notes from young people about how school feels will appear here, shared only with their consent.

  • Anonymous if they prefer
  • Captions and transcripts with every clip
